Factory Installed Motorized ELR
The SDC S5000 is a heavy duty, code compliant alternative to magnetic locks that meets the market need for a storefront exit device with electric latch retraction for access control upgrades. Nightlatch functionality* is available through the use of a rim key cylinder for medium and wide stile doors making these exit devices perfect for industrial, healthcare and education aluminum glass applications.
Explore the benefits of motorized electric latch retraction in storefront exit devices, including options for Request-to-exit and Latch Status capabilities. Discover the features of the SDC S5000 exit device and how it can optimize your code compliant entrance upgrades.
Advantages of the SDC S5000 Exit Device
The SDC S5000 exit device is equipped with a factory installed, motorized latch retraction mechanism, enabling storefront access control. This eliminates the need for unsightly magnetic locks and makes the S5000 particularly suited to aluminum glass entrances for both manual and automated door openings and new or retrofit applications.
In addition to motorized electric latch retraction and dogging, the SDC S5000 exit device is compatible with low-energy operators and is UL305 panic-rated, designed to facilitate the egress of persons from buildings in the event emergency. With available models for Rim, SVR and CVR applications, there's an S5000 to meet virtually any high traffic storefront entrance requirement.
Understanding Motorized Electric Latch Retraction
In a storefront exit device, the latch retraction mechanism is electrically powered and controlled. When triggered by an authorized signal, such as a push button or an access control system, the motor activates and retracts the latch, allowing the door to open. This automated process eliminates the need for physical exertion to retract the latch, reducing strain on individuals, especially in emergency situations. It also ensures consistent and reliable latch retraction, minimizing the risk of human error or oversight.
Motorized electric latch retraction also enables remote monitoring and control. With the integration of request to exit (REX) monitoring, the system can detect when someone approaches the exit and automatically retract the latch to allow egress. This enhances security by preventing unauthorized access and ensuring a smooth exit process for individuals within the facility.
*If the application does not require night latch function for key override in the event of power loss, then S5000 exit devices can also be utilized on narrow stile doors commonly found in retail storefront applications.
